Experience the eighth annual installment of the “Embryo Exhibition Series” presented by Shanina Dionna. Embryo VIII continues to serve as a platform to help raise mental health awareness via the visual and performing arts. The exhibition chronicles lessons learned and personal evolution of its creator. Dionna bravely exposes her battle with borderline personality disorder, suicide, major depression, trichotillomania and “schizo fits” in an effort to confront and prevail against its systemic and societal influence on her life.
Embryo VIII is now sponsored in-part by the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS), HipCityVeg and Blick Art Materials of Philadelphia, PA; The Home Depot and Lowes of Downingtown, PA; Target of Exton, Pa; and The Dean Collection founded by Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean & Alicia Keys.
Partial proceeds from the exhibition series continue to benefit the ARTbuds youth visual art program at the Urban Art Gallery 501(c)(3) of West Philadelphia.
